AIPI Head of Operations

The Artificial Intelligence Policy Institute (AIPI) is seeking a Head of Operations for our polling and policy-focused think tank. This role works extremely closely with the Executive Director to drive operational excellence and manage both day-to-day and quarterly initiatives. 

 

Success requires aptitude in team management, clear and timely communication, and an independently driven entrepreneurial mindset. Your mission is to strategize and ensure AIPI’s operations move forward efficiently. This is an excellent opportunity to significantly shape the direction of an organization undergoing continued national growth.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Collaborating closely with the Executive Director to execute operational strategies aligned with AIPI’s mission and long-term goals.

  • Overseeing budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation to support AIPI’s diverse projects and programs effectively.

  • Representing AIPI to governmental agencies, outside organizations, and events.

  • Developing and implementing systems to monitor operational efficiency, identify opportunities for enhancement, and drive organizational growth.

What we need to see:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in executive operational roles, preferably within a non-profit, policy, or technology-oriented environment.

  • Strong financial acumen and expertise in managing budgets, resources, and strategic planning.

  • Knowledge of, and/or connections in the technology, artificial intelligence, nuclear weapon, or biotechnology safety community, or experience/ connections with political offices. 

  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.

  • Startup mentality in a fast-paced, open culture.

  • Willingness to work full-time both remotely and in person. 

Ways to stand out:

  • Experience in research or policy in artificial intelligence, nuclear weapons, and biotechnology safety community.

  • Experience in a government-related role, preferably at a think tank or as Chief of Staff for a governmental office or high-achieving individual.  

  • A history of creating effective and impactful strategies at an organizational level.

  • Excellent ability to clearly communicate complex technical information in both writing and verbally.

The cash compensation range is $115,000 to $175,000 USD. Final compensation will be determined based on location, experience, and industry standards.
