Voters were presented with the following explanation of the accord: President Trump and the heads of six major tech companies (OpenAI, Google, Meta, Anthropic, xAI, and Nvidia) signed the White House Accord on Super Intelligence, a voluntary pledge aimed at responsible innovation. Under the accord, each company agrees to put robust controls in place to watch its most powerful systems for dangers such as helping with cyberattacks or biological and chemical weapons, to have an independent outside auditor check whether those controls work, and to have a committee of its board of directors oversee safety and make sure problems get fixed. Presented with that description, 1,008 U.S. likely voters surveyed on October 6 and 7, 2026, gave the accord 61% support and 16% opposition on the initial question. With those who were not sure included, support reaches 74% and opposition 26%.
